Eye treatments

At A-Vet Small Animal Clinic, we offer a wide range of eye treatments for your pets, performed by experienced veterinarians specializing in eye health. We know how important it is to maintain good eye health for both the prevention and treatment of eye disorders. Our clinic has advanced equipment and expertise to diagnose and treat a number of eye disorders in dogs and cats.

Gonioscopy

Some dog breeds are more prone to developing glaucoma. Our vets offer gonioscopy, a specialized examination that can identify problems with the drainage system in the eye and prevent the development of glaucoma. This is an important additional examination for high-risk breeds.

Glaucoma – Glaucoma

Glaucoma, also known as glaucoma, is a painful condition that results in increased pressure in the eye, which can lead to vision loss. This condition affects both dogs and cats, and requires prompt treatment to avoid permanent damage to the vision. We offer advanced diagnostics and treatment of glaucoma.

Reference Eye

We receive referred patients from all over Vestfold for examination and treatment of eye disorders. With our extensive expertise in ophthalmology, eye disorders and eye surgery, we ensure thorough treatment of referred patients within ophthalmology.

How does an eye examination take place with us?

Eye examinations at A-Vet are carried out by veterinarians with special expertise in ophthalmology, which is the study of diseases of the eye. The eye is a complex organ that often requires advanced diagnostics and treatment in case of disease. Our eye examinations provide a thorough assessment of your pet's eye health.

Eyesight Of Dog

Why should your dog's eyes be examined? Loss of vision reduces the ability to communicate with the outside world. Therefore, it is important to have regular eye examinations to ensure good eye health and detect any problems early. Eye scanning is a method used to map hereditary eye diseases in dogs.

Eye lighting also for Dogs Except for NOX and NKK

We offer eye lighting for dogs that are also not registered in NOX or NKK. This is important for dog owners who want to get an assessment of their dog's eye health.

Eye scanning and DNA testing

We offer both eye scanning and DNA testing to detect hereditary eye disorders. Blood samples can be taken for DNA testing, which provides information on whether the dog is a carrier of specific genetic eye disorders. This is particularly important for certain dog breeds with known genetic eye diseases.

Eye surgery

We perform eye surgery if necessary. Our ophthalmologist, Elisabeth Bjørnestad, has undergone extensive further training at the European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies in Toulouse in 2002, 2005 and 2011. She has experience with a number of eye disorders that require surgical intervention.

Eye Disease In Rabbits

Rabbits can also be affected by various eye diseases that can affect their health and well-being. We offer diagnostics and treatment of eye diseases in rabbits, with a focus on ensuring that they receive the right treatment and follow-up.
