We carry out everything from uncomplicated castrations to advanced surgical interventions. All the employees who work in the surgical department are
professional weight and further development important.
Elizabeth, our chief veterinarian in eye surgery, performs a number of advanced
eye surgery, including treatment of corneal damage, entropion (where the eyelid turns inward), ectropion (where the eyelid turns outward), cherry eye (protrusion of the eyelid), distichiasis (misaligned eye hairs that grow inward), and ectopic cilia. Her experience in these fields is rooted in a solid education that includes advanced courses in Toulouse, France and Madrid, Spain, where she has learned various surgical approaches to manage complex eye problems. This expertise enables us to offer our patients high-quality surgical treatments that improve their quality of life and, in many cases, preserve their vision.
Soft tissue surgery and more
The surgical department at A-Vet also performs a wide range of soft tissue surgical interventions. This includes everything from the removal of tumors, sterilization, operations in the stomach and intestinal system, to more complicated procedures. We ensure that all surgical procedures, regardless of complexity, are performed with the utmost precision and care. Our patients' safety and health is always our priority, and we use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
Veterinarians and nurses: An invaluable support
Our surgical vets and nurses play a crucial role in the surgical team. They carry out clinical examinations and the necessary imaging examinations before the operation, as well as prepare the patients for surgery. During the operation, they monitor the anesthesia and the patient's condition, and they assist when waking up after the operation. For us, it is important that all animals are in safe hands throughout the entire process, and therefore we monitor the patients both before, during and after the operation. The patients are closely monitored with regard to pulse, body temperature, respiration, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and heart rhythm (ECG). All patients are intubated to ensure the supply of oxygen, both during and after the operation, which contributes to safe anesthesia and a good awakening.
Modern operating theatres
A-Vet has two state-of-the-art operating theatres, equipped with the latest in monitoring and surgical equipment. This includes, among other things, a high-quality surgical microscope, which is essential for performing precise eye surgery. In addition, we have advanced monitoring equipment that continuously measures the vital functions of our patients, so that we can react quickly to any changes during the operation. For particularly demanding cases, we also have a ventilator that can breathe for the patient if necessary. Sterility and hygiene are of utmost importance in our operating theatres, and we follow strict protocols to minimize the risk of infections. After each operation, we ensure that the equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sterilized, so that everything is ready for the next patient. This helps to reduce complications and promote faster and safer healing for our patients.
European procedures and quality assurance
At A-Vet, we work according to standardized European examination and treatment procedures. This ensures that our patients receive treatment that is in line with the highest standards in veterinary medicine. We always put our patients first, and we are proud of our ability to deliver first-class treatment with a personal touch. For us, it is important that our customers and their four-legged friends always feel well looked after and have a good experience when they visit us.
